Theatre Games and Storytelling-I’ve Got Something to Tell you

Theatre Games & Storytelling

Get creative with acting out your own stories, making speeches, telling jokes, and playing theatre games. This is a group for you if you love holding a microphone and sharing your voice, your humor, your ideas, and your stories. Let’s get together and give each other the spotlight! This class is designed to work on communication skills, social-emotional skills, and to of course have fun!

Taught by Val Walker, who has 23 year’s experience in the social services field as a counselor, group facilitator and activities specialist. She has a MS in Rehabilitation Counseling and a BA in Theatre. In our first class, we’ll tell each other a little about ourselves and introduce each other.  We share stories about where we grew up and went to school and made our first friends. We talk about our interests and favorite things. We play theatre games and do fun team building activities to join together as a group.

In this class we act out stories about being a messenger: telling someone news about a big surprise, such as being the first person to tell our friend something important. Good news could be: “You just won $1000 dollars!” or “You’re going to be on TV (The Bachelor)!” or “You’re hired!” or other big news. We also act out getting shocking news too—“There’s a fire in the house!” or “A tornado is coming!” or, “Your cat just ran away!” We act out all kinds of scenarios with our group where we are the messenger. We also play some fun theatre games. Individuals coming with a 1:1 are welcome to attend.
